the Dordogne region is highly estimated in the culinary world.
Famous products considered very luxurious, because they are unbelievably
tasteful.
Black truffle, foie gras and wild mushrooms that grow everywhere and last but not least the
Confit de Canard.
The best introduction to these delicacies is the local market. Every day there is at least one in
a nearby village (the Sunday market in St. Cyprien is cosy and only a 10 minutes drive away).
However, if you prefer to leave the cooking to somebody else, then you can go out for dinner
to various good local restaurants in the neighbourhood, from lunch till dinner, from a to-day’s
special’s to a 3 star (Michelin) restaurant at the foot of the mountain in Lez Eyzies at 1,5 km

SPORT
Biking, mountain biking, canoeing, playing golf and horse riding,
the Dordogne region offers you everything to enjoy an active or a relaxed holiday.
In the surroundings of the GITE LE GRABOU you will find the river Vezere, a beautiful river
That will take you to many different sightseeing places while sitting in your canoe.
It is a large and undeep river. ideal canoeing for beginners as well as for advanced
Canoers.
In some parts of the river the water is streaming quickly with some white water
However, there are no rapids, or waterfalls.
Still it’s recommended to wear a life jacket. French police enforce strict safety measures.
Canoes are for rent everywhere along the river side.
The South-West of France is a traditional golf area.
In the Dordogne region there are 5 golf courses with forest and links courses.
Three golf courses offer 18 holes and the other 2 offer 9 holes.
They are located near the GITE LE GRABOU in Le Bugue (10 minutes from the gite).
Most courses are open during the whole year.
